DOS2RO

Purpose
=======
Convert DOS to Risc OS types and back.

Files that are of the format "myfile,fff" should be actually called "file" and of the type "fff". This program will convert these for you.

It is RECOMMENDED that you use this program on copies of files as I hold no responsibility for any loss of data.

Instructions
============
Drag a file, directory or application to the taskbar icon for the application. A save box will appear. Drag the icon to a filer window to save the converted files. The save box will close if you click outside of it. You can reopen it by either dragging the file to the application icon again or by clicking select on the icon.

Saving to the same folder will change the files. Choosing a different folder will create a copy where the files are changed in the copy.

If a directory or application is dragged to the icon, all files will be converted in the directory and all sub-directories. This can take time and the hourglass will be shown while the operation works.

Dragging multiple items will only convert one. See immediate in the menu section for a solution.

Menu
====
Clicking menu on the icon opens a menu with the following options.

Info. Shows program information and version number.

Help. Opens this help document.

DOS to Risc OS. If ticked files will be changed from "myfile,fff" to "file" and the type set to "fff". This should make files usable on Risc OS.

Risc OS to DOS. If ticked files will be changed from "myfile" to "myfile,fff" which may be useful if transferring files to non-Risc OS systems where the files are not altered automatically. This may be useful before sending files via FTP.

Make Fix File. This creates an Obey file that will settype and rename all the files in a folder or application for use on Risc OS. This can be useful for programs that are sent via FTP or other methods where the type information is lost. For example, sometimes !RunImage files are moved via methods that keep the filename but become type Data when moved back onto Risc OS. The fix file can correct these, although the user will have to change the fix file to an Obey type first.

Immediate. If ticked files will be changed without a save box opening. Multiple files can be dragged at once.

Quit. Quits the program and removes the icon from the taskbar.

Iconbar
=======
Clicking select on the iconbar will bring up the save window containing the filename of the most recently dragged file or directory. If no file has been dragged then DOS2RO will do nothing.
